Newborns frequently undergo significant changes even in the first few days as they adjust to their new surroundings. The belly button clamps slip off, the vernix gradually sinks in, their hands and feet begin to peel away to reveal fresh skin, milk spots appear on their small noses, and milk blisters appear on their pouty lips. What a priceless treasure these tiny baby details are!
Capturing little baby details is a big part of a newborn session because it stops time exactly as they are, and gives you that memory forever. Although they are a part of every newborn session, the macro photographs are rarely the ones that are printed to decorate the walls. Most people enjoy using them in their portrait albums or on photo cubes for nurseries, while others enjoy using them in frames.
Don’t overlook the tiny details no matter how you choose to treasure these first precious moments.
Here are the newborn details you should capture, in your newborn shoot.

The newborn details you should capture
Baby Hair
This newborn detail is something that not every little one has this early in their life. However, if your newborn does have hair, we can capture the little tuff they have (or their full head of hair!).

Baby Lips
Pouty baby lips are the cutest! If this doesn’t convince you that capturing newborn details are important to look back on, then I don’t know what will.

Baby Rolls
Whether it is a small crease or a chunky roll, your baby is adorable and you know that this newborn detail is something you will miss one day.

Baby Fingers, Toes and Ears
Their fingers, toes and ears are just so tiny and precious. Capturing this newborn detail will remind you of how small they once were.

Why should you have a newborn shoot?
Time passes so quickly! You will suddenly realise that, despite having just spent nine months carrying your baby, you already have them in your arms. It is now time for you to schedule a newborn shoot to celebrate the birth of your newest family member!
You would be able to capture your baby’s milestones by having a newborn shoot. Additionally, it would make it easier to remember the tiny details of your baby that you would otherwise overlook as they get older.

When is the best time for a newborn photoshoot?
There is no particular age to have a newborn photoshoot. The sleepy and wide-awake photos are just as good as each other. Anywhere from 7 days is a good idea, so you as the mother feel comfortable too.

A baby-led approach to newborn photography
I will always follow the baby’s lead as we progress through the newborn shoot. Observing your baby’s preferences and catering to them.
For instance, some newborns may naturally prefer to sleep with their arms wrapped, while others would like to have their hands close to their faces.
By working with your baby’s preferences, I will ensure that no two images are alike. I will also never force your baby into a pose they do not feel comfortable in. Making sure your baby is comfortable throughout the shoot is my top focus.
With this approach capturing the newborn details will be easy and unique, truly expressing who they are in the earliest stage of their life.
