Photographing a family session can sometimes have its challenges.
Before the session, I will go over a list of shot ideas and envision them, but I’ve learnt that things don’t always go as planned. I have experienced a busy toddler who doesn’t want to cuddle or play games, then all plans go out of the window.

Over time I’ve found ways that work for me in every session to get emotive, candid images. I like to get to know my clients before the session, I know for a fact that the more comfortable we are around each other, the more relaxed the photoshoot will become. I like to work with my client’s personalities as I know how every love shines through differently.
As soon as we have found that connection, I will work with you to find a middle ground in helping the personalities come through. Once we have found a location you feel comfortable with we will discuss areas within that will make best for the photos that suit you and your family. You know the “everyone smiling at the camera” or what most photographers call the “grandma shot”.
As soon as these are completed I’ve experienced that everyone starts to feel more relaxed and this is where the fun begins. I use prompts during my family session, but I’ve also learnt to wait before I introduce them, this is the best way to keep young children engaged as the magic is not in the actual prompts but in the moments to follow.
I am aware that family photoshoots can sometimes feel forced and stress levels can rise especially when there are young children, please relax as I will reassure you throughout the whole session to help confidence grow and blossom, this is what I am there to do and is my passion.
