Tips on how to relax on a photoshoot

Tips & ideas

The family photoshoot can be so much fun and can create a beautiful  ambience that you and your children will treasure forever. Clients often  have questions leading up to a photoshoot on how to relax, not everyone  is comfortable in front of a camera, myself included:) A family shoot is a  great opportunity to spend time together as one. I’ve put some tips  together to help prepare you for your next photoshoot.

Tips on how to relax on a photoshoot

Explain to the children about the photoshoot  and get them excited about it. Don’t be afraid to include an incentive  for “good” behaviour, it works with my boys:) Frame this photoshoot  in a positive and exciting light because happy kids equal relaxed  parents.

Prepare the Children

Plan ahead

The most common question I get asked about  regarding the photoshoot is what we should wear. I would  recommend planning on deciding the outfits. Get it out of the way,  and if you feel like you need help, I’m very happy to help you with  colours and styles of clothing. When that is out of the way you can  just focus on getting everyone at the shoot.

Make sure everyone is rested and well-fed

Full tummies mean a  happy heart and feeling content goes a long way in a shoot. You can  bring snacks! More on this below.

Activities

If there is an activity you love doing together as a family,  let me know about it. We can incorporate it into your shoot.

What to bring

Bringing snacks to the photoshoot makes a great  bribe for young children please consider snacks that are quick and  easy to eat. Ideally, snacks should be non-staining and food that  won’t get stuck in your teeth.

Back up clothes

Bringing a second set of clothes, as your kids can be a bit unpredictable at times:) or if you wanted to make an outfit  change.

Clothes that you feel good in

There’s nothing worse than feeling  self-conscious in your outfits, we’ve all been there. If you are worried

about the fit of your clothes, don’t wear them as feeling  uncomfortable will show in your photos. Confidence comes through  in your poses and expression, If you feel relaxed and happy, you’ll  look relaxed and happy.

Enjoy your time together

You don’t have to look at the camera

We will get the “look at the  camera photos” out of the way first. Then I want you to forget about  me being there, connecting and your surroundings. I know life gets  busy, this is the time for you to slow down to show each other your  love. I’m here to capture those moments.

Let each child be a star

I hope the following tips will help you relax  on your next photoshoot, you are in safe hands, and I look forward  to meeting with you,

What Do My Family Photoshoots Look Like?
